Senate debate suspended

The Upper Chamber of Parliament tonight suspended its sitting sina die, immediately after passing two land acquisition resolutions without debate.

One was to change the use of a parcel of land at Vaucluse, St Thomas on which an abattoir was to be built, and instead make it available for the construction of an administrative office for employees who would be working with the Sanitation Service Authority’s (SSA) green energy programme.

The other measure was to compulsorily acquire land at Cane Vale, Christ Church for the development of recreational facilities.

Both resolutions were piloted by Leader of Government Business Senator Maxine McClean, who wrapped up debate.
