Abrahams nominated

A man of integrity, heart and compassion!

That’s how Christ Church East branch member Kwame Bradshaw tonight described Senator Wilfred Abrahams as he was nominated to  carry the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) banner in that constituency.

Abrahams, who was eventually nominated unopposed, expressed gratitude to again be a candidate and not only a constituency caretaker.

However, he warned that things were “dread” in the district and in Barbados as a whole while accusing the elected parliamentarian for the constituency, Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe, of creating “a representative vacuum” in the area.

Speaking on Abrahams’ nomination, his BLP colleague Adrian Forde, who just over two weeks ago was nominated unopposed for Christ Church West Central, credited him with leading the fight against Government’s short-lived municipal tax, and the aborted tipping fee for truckers.

As the BLP readies itself for elections, Queen’s Counsel Ralph Thorne and economist Ryan Straughn were also recently nominated unopposed to represent the Opposition party in the Christ Church South and Christ Church East Central constituencies respectively.

Please, can someone give me the rationale for the continued increase in the number of constituencies in the parish of Christ Church and others, considering their populace and the dire financial situation which exists?

A vote for Abraham is a wasted vote.
