Drugs growing in canefields

COURT TODAY BLOCKPolice today discovered over 1,000 cannabis plants growing within several canefields in St George.

In all, 1,164 cannabis plants were seized in the illegal drug eradication operations involving members of the Drug Squad and the Police Tactical Response Unit.

Of the total 523 plants were recovered at Stepney Plantation, 160 at Buckley, 69 at Constant, 198 at Jordans and 214 at Applewaites.

No arrests were made.
