Economist Ryan Straughn tonight secured the candidacy for the Barbados Labour Party Christ Church East Central and immediately promised to join with the party’s economic advisor, Dr Clyde Mascoll,
in fixing the Barbados economy.

In accepting the nomination unopposed before a packed auditorium at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School, the 39-year-old, who is a former worker at the Central Bank, reflected on that Bank’s quarterly report issued yesterday saying, “it pains me to see the level of analysis that is coming out of the Central Bank today”.

On the tight state of the economy, he said, “we have to ensure that this situation never happens again in this country”.

The higher the monkey climb the more he shows his tail.

Is this the same Straughn who always said that he was “independent” neither “B” nor “D”?

“And he has warned that Government should not wait until the last minute to ask for help, adding that his position has always been that “we should have already gone to the International Monetary Fund at least two or three years ago.””
