Juniors A sweep badminton opponents

Juniors A took a 5-0 sweep over Shuttlers D when the two sides meet on the third night of the ongoing David King Memorial Inter-club Badminton tournament being played at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Led by under-19 champions Shae Martin and Amanda Haywood who won their respective singles matches, Juniors A managed to take a 2-0 lead. Haywood defeated Cathy Ann Webster 21-2, 21-3, while Martin was victorious 21-4 and 21-6 over Towain King.

Then in doubles action Krystal Clarke and Ashlee Robinson lost the first set 22-24 to Sherri-Ann Crichlow and Natasha Jones who failed to carry on the momentum and lost the second and third sets 21-10 and 21-11.

Gavin Robinson and Nicholas Sobers then made light work of Aslam Bhika and Andre Woodvine 21-10 and 21-5 to give Juniors a 4-0 lead. Martin and Haywood came back and featured in mixed doubles and wrapped things up 21-5 and 21-9 against Bhika and Crichlow of Shuttlers.

Shuttlers A then got the better of Juniors B 5-0; Pioneers A defeated Pioneers C 5-0 and Shuttlers B did well to trounce Pioneers B 4-1. Play will continue on October 25th at the Wildey Gymnasium.
