Blaze damages Christ Church home

A man, his wife and two children are homeless today after their Browne’s Gap, Sargeants Village, Christ Church home was extensively damaged by fire yesterday evening.

No one was in the wooden structure when the blaze occurred just after 3 p.m., however, Barbados TODAY understands that a few residents from the area attempted to get the blaze under control.

A nearby house received minor damage. Two fire tenders and six officers under the command of station officer Denton Foster responded to the blaze.

The owner of the house Junior Best told Barbados TODAY that he was struggling to come to grips with the loss of the home and its contents. He said he was too distraught to speak about the ordeal.

And while police are investigating the origin of the fire, some residents said they believed it was caused by the weather system that affected the island this evening.
