First decade to Ri Ri
There were big celebrations this week for our very own superstar Rihanna.
The 27-year-old lass, who shot to international fame back in 2005, is celebrating ten years in the music business.
“Definitely a very big deal for me. You know, I can’t believe it’s ten years already; but we definitely have to celebrate this year,” the singer said during an interview with the Associated Press.
“There are a few things I have in mind; so you’ll have wait on that. But don’t think I’m forgetting, because this means a lot to me that I made it to ten years.”
Rihanna, who released her debut album in 2005, has since released six others, launched multiple Top 10 hits and won eight Grammy Awards.
This year she has dropped three singles, including the Top 5 hit Four Five Seconds and says she is busy working on her eighth album.
“[The] new album is going really, really great. We have recorded a lot of songs and I can’t wait to finish and put it out. That’s my next step,” she said.
Rihanna was beaming about her achievement as she launched her new fragrance RiRi by Rihanna Eau De Parfum at the popular Macy’s in downtown Brooklyn on Monday in the presence of screaming fans. All pretty in pink, Rihanna, who was wearing a bubblegum pink dress, pearls and silk gloves, said the fragrance offered fans a feminine and flirty scent.
The new spritz, which will be launched in September, aims to capture a fresh, vibrant essence with a playful twist.
“Each fragrance we create brings something new and different,” said Rihanna. “This is a flirty, more feminine scent. I love that we can use interesting combinations that reflect a new overall feel.”
Feverish fans screamed inside the packed store, singing her lyrics to past hits and dancing wildly as one of her songs blasted from speakers. Rihanna also gave a sample of Barbadian soca hits. The popular tunes Ah Feeling Ah Feeling and Ben Up by Leadpipe And Saddis were blasting in the department store.
