Swansea topple Man United
Manchester United suffered their first defeat of the season as Swansea City battled from behind to claim a 2-1 win at the Liberty Stadium.
Thanks to goals from Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis, the home side continued their recent dominance over their rivals who they defeated twice last season.
The visitors had actually taken the lead in the second half, with Mata rifling his shot into the top of the net following a Luke Shaw pass in the 49th minute.
The lead did not last long, though, as Rooney gave the ball away to spark a Swansea counter-attack from which Ayew was able to head home a Sigurdsson cross in the 61st minute.
Four minutes later Swansea were ahead, with Ayew supplying a superb ball through for Gomis to fire past United keeper Sergio Romero.
That proved enough for Swansea to claim a third successive 2-1 victory over United in Van Gaal’s 50th game in charge of the club.
