Usain Bolt wins men’s 100m gold

Usain Bolt has won the men’s 100m gold in the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing, in a season-best 9.79 seconds.

His American rival, Justin Gatlin, came in a close second in 9.80 seconds at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

It was Bolt’s ninth World Championships gold medal, and came after he struggled out of the blocks in the semi-finals, to qualify in 9.96 seconds, while Gatlin clocked 9.77 to win his semi.

American Trayvon Bromwell and Canada’s Andre De Grasse tied for third place, in 9.911 seconds.

Even though not fully fit, Usain was still better than a boosted up Gatlin. But Asafa Powell disappoints again. World stage horrors

Imagine the time he would get if he only got out of the blocks first in the pack.

I am so glad that Bolt didn’t get out of the block first. Otherwise the Bolt of fork lightening would have strike down Gatlin. That is something Bolt would have to live with for the rest of his life. So glad that Bolt was not responsible for the death of Gatlin. Bolt one in a billion…

Bolts’ longer upper torso won the race for him.In other words when both leaned towards the tape Bolts’ head was ahead of Gatlins’.
Both had to look towards the screen before they knew who was the winner.
