Grant ordered to pay for bangle

COURT TODAY BLOCKAfter finally pleading guilty weeks ago to robbing a woman, Kemo Avery Grant was ordered today to compensate her $1, 500 for the bangle he snatched from her hand.

Grant, 20, of Holder’s Land, Goodland, St. Michael, confessed to committing the offence before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court last month.

The incident occurred in June 2013 when Carol-Ann Alleyne was walking along St Michael’s Row and realised someone was constantly walking behind her. When she paused to allow the person to pass, Grant grabbed at the $1, 500 gold bracelet she was wearing. The two scuffled but Grant pulled it off the woman’s hand and ran away.

Magistrate Cuffy-Sargeant gave Grant, who is on remand in relation to other matters, until November 20 to repay the woman. He is expected to be sentenced on that date as well.
