New inductees to frequent visitors club
There have been two additions to the “Over 100 persons to Journey to Barbados Club”.
Gerry and Sally Maher of Mitcham, Surrey in the UK, who have vacationed here 104 times have been granted lifetime membership in the club.
Tourism Minister Richard Sealy thanked the couple for their support of Barbados over the years, at a recent presentation at Cin Cin Restrurant on the west coast.
They were also gifted with a plaque to commemorate the occasion by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner.
Mr Maher first visited the island in 1961, and he attributed his returns to “the friendliness of the people”.
“I know when I get off the plane I will have a friendly welcome every time,” he said.
The Mahers have also encouraged other holiday makers to visit Barbados over the years, and on this current trip they are expecting relatives and friends from the UK, the US, Trinidad and South Africa to join them here for a reunion.
