Hard work paid off for Danielle

While most Barbados Scholarship winners will be jetting off to new respective universities, Danielle Herbert will be staying right here. Well, for at least another year.

That’s because Danielle, a student of Queen’s College, will be looking to add chemistry and mathematics to her existing eight CAPE Grade 1s.

In this year’s exam she gained top grades in biology, geography, environmental science, Caribbean studies and communication studies.

“When I got my results I was elated. I really, really wanted to gain a Barbados Scholarship and I was extremely happy when I found out I had achieved my goal.

“I worked really hard leading up to my exams, and I’m glad that the hard work has paid off,” the former St Angela’s student said.

“I wasn’t the only one excited. My mum Susan Herbert cried, and my dad Stephen Herbert was really happy for me as well.”

After completing the two additional subjects, Danielle will be headed off to either the University of Waterloo in Toronto, or the University of Guelph in Ontario, both in Canada.
