TRINIDAD – Two minors remanded for 11-year-old’s death

PORT OF SPAIN –– Two minors were remaned into prison custody this afternoon after they appeared in court charged with the unlawful killing of an 11-year-old boy, who was shot dead while they were playing with a loaded shotgun.

The court appearance of the brothers, aged 13 and 11, took place around the same time the funeral service of 11-year-old Rueben Reid who was shot dead last Thursday.

The brothers appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar, in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with manslaughter and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. They were remanded to the Youth Training Centre in Arouca until their reappearance on Friday when the magistrate will determine if bail would be granted.
