Hundreds of Barbadians flocked to Speightstown, St Peter today to take in some of the action of the Speightstown Alive event.

From as early as 10 a.m., people descended in Speightstown to take part in the activities provided during the day-long event.

The tuk band and ‘Mother Sally’ entertained the crowd

Locals and tourists alike took in the road tennis and the tuk bands with “Mother Sallies,” while others paid particular interest to the produce and local crafts which were on display.

Later in the afternoon, the hot sun gave way to some afternoon showers, sending patrons scampering for shelter.

Art and craft was one of the main attractions

However, as the rains subsided, the numbers grew, with several more activities slated for the evening and night session.

This can’t bewhat is needed because when the party is over the patient remains dead. We continue to fool ourselves that plasters heal wounds.

What an unfortunate title ‘Speightstown Comes Alive’! Were they waking it from the dead and does that mean it will go back to sleep again after the weekend’s shenanigans? A bit like the sleeping giant lmbo
