Family and friends mourn Layne’s death

Grieving family and friends of 66-year-old Vincent Layne gathered at Bushy Park, St Philip as lawmen confirmed they had discovered his body.

Sixty-six-year-old Layne was reported missing by police earlier today.

He was last seen leaving his Farm Road home between 8:00 and 8:30 am yesterday.

Layne, a farmer and a popular voice on local call-in radio programmes, was no stranger to tragedy.

He lost his two sons, Neil and Kirt in a drowning incident in 1995.

I’m sorry mankind have to experience such gruesome deaths, so much pain and anguish it shatters your soul.
there is a spiritual war happening right here on earth for the souls of man but we continue to live as if in paradise.
people turn to the Living God out of a sincere, repentant heart that death will lose its sting, live victorious lives, be one with your Creator
hoping and praying Barbadians will wake up,repent and accept the hand of Jesus Christ

Vincent was a very good friend of me & my husband.
We spent time at his home on Farm Road talking about farming & everything else under the sun.
He would often turn up at our home with these fresh ideas & full of enthusiasm! I often asked Vincent why he was wasting his time. Why not take up politics………
I never visited his home & left empty handed.
He died near to where his sons are buried.
My heart goes out to Sandra & his entire family.
    RIP Vince!

I had many interactions with the man. He was one of a kind and a good kind at that. So sorry to hear this but I felt that he never could get over the tragic loss of his sons. Every time I passed his home I remembered that tragedy. A heavy load to bear. I could always sense a sadness in him.
