Bajan wins 400m at special olympics
Tyson Browne has struck gold at the 2015 Los Angeles Special Olympics World Games.
Browne had already become a crowd favourite at the University of Southern California Locker Stadium with
his pre and post-race dance, and he did not disappoint his fans when he crossed the finish line first to win the 400 metres gold medal today.
Browne’s dance was as smooth as his run as he out-distanced the field to capture the first gold medal by the Barbados team. He was also scheduled to run at the 200 metres distance later in the day, and he has a good chance of dancing again.
Browne’s victory brings the Barbados medal count to six so far at the the World Games.
Earlier in the day, Patrick Hinds won the bronze medal in bocce singles. That was Hinds’ second medal of the Games, having already captured a silver medal with his three teammates in unified bocce team competition.
