Port of Spain, Trinidad – Escaped prisoner, Hassan Atwell, has been found dead two days after he and two other inmates escaped from the Port of Spain prison.

Media reports indicate that 41-year-old Atwell was killed by members of the Rasta City gang.

He was shot multiple times in the back and about the body at Calgary Hill, Port of Spain.  His bullet-riddled body was discovered by police around 12:30 this morning.

Atwell was said to be unarmed at the time he was killed. Pictures posted on social media show Atwell slumped in the ground with bullet holes in his back and head.

On Friday, Atwell together with 42-year-old Allan “Scanny” Martin, one of the men on trial for the kidnap and murder of Xtra Foods CEO Vindra Naipaul-Coolman and Christopher “Monster” Selby, 30 escaped from the Port of Spain prison.

Martin was killed in a shootout with police.

Atwell had a string of charges against him, including kidnapping, possession of a firearm, robbery and sexual assault.

Selby, who remains at large, is facing two charges of murder unrelated to the murder of Naipaul-Coolman.

Police constable Sherman Maynard, 27, was also shot and killed during Friday’s jailbreak.

I often wonder how the parents must feel, when their sons bring so much sadness in their lives. Not all bad people begin life that way, sometimes they have loving parents who try their best. The dumb young men prefer to go the way of violence and crime instead of living a life to make their parents and families proud. Eventually they die as they live. God help them !
