Red Steel down Tallawahs

Dwayne Bravo’s superb all-around effort helped the Red Steels to victory over the Tallawahs

The Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel edged the Jamaica Tallawahs by seven runs this evening in a tense Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) encounter.

Batting first, the Red Steel were led by South African Jacques Kallis who struck an unbeaten 61, as they posted a challenging total of 145 for three from their 20 overs.

Captain Dwayne Bravo chipped in with an unbeaten 49 from 30 balls, with three sixes and two fours.

In their turn at the crease, the Tallawahs could only muster 138 for nine. Andre Russell top scored with a swashbuckling 36 from 22 balls, but apart from Chris Gayle’s whirlwind 27, none of the other batsmen made it past 12.

Leg spinner Samuel Badree was the pick of the Red Steel bowlers, finishing with three for 35, while Bravo and Sulieman Benn each took two wickets.
