NUPW steps up action

Customs, immigration officers and other unionized workers at the Grantley Adams International airport and the Barbados Port Authority will begin a go-slow tomorrow as the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) intensifies industrial action.

NUPW acting general secretary Rosalind Smith made the announcement moments ago as she emerged from a packed meeting summoned by the union to plot its next course of action as its impasse with the Barbados Investment Development Corporation (BIDC) drags on.

Smith said sanitation workers would remain off the job.

The Prime Minister makes some statements at times that makes one wonder if he should not remain quiet, His words seem to anger many persons and possibly make a bad situation worse,
First he talked about the Union indicating that all they can do is make noise. Now that they have flexed their muscles, the PM is looking for sympathy by calling the Union’s legitimate actions- choke and rob. Mr PM please !!!

I hope that you all continue to push full steam ahead and not allow yourselves to be “blustered, bullied or blackmailed” To Mr.McDowall, Ms.Moore, Ms.Redman, Mr.Franklyn and all the others I say.. United we stand!!

Now that the PM finally entered the fray and promising that the resignation letters will be withdrawn and the Courts given the go ahead to start proceedings pronto,it is time the NUPW calls off all industrial action.
That would mean the workers will have to be paid until the Courts decide who is right and who is wrong.

Funny how all of a sudden the man who is known to keep people’s cases for 8 and ten years before taking them before the courts now talking about a speedy hearing oh how I cry…he makes such a sarcastic degrading and undignified comments that Bajans ought to be ashamed and to call him our PM is truly disgraceful…
