Tridents at the top of CPL standings

Defending champions Barbados Tridents have moved to the top of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) rankings after beating Jamaica Tallawahs by 17 runs at Sabina Park yesterday.

Kieron Pollard top scored for the Tridents with 59, while opener Dilshan Munaweera made 33, contributing to the Trident’s final score of 146/7.

The Tallawahs lost Chris Gayle early in their innings, with the captain making just 14.

Robin Peterson took two wickets with his first two balls – including the dangerous Chris Lynn, who made way for 13 – and bowled Jerome Blackwood after dismissing Jayawardene to claim three wickets in the over.

Chadwick Walton top scored for the Tallawahs with 46, followed by Nkrumah Bonner on 31. Andre Rusell and Chris Gayle contributed 15 and 14 respectively, to the Tallawah’s final total of 129. (

” Moved to the top ” ??? they were ALWAYS at the top mate. Well done seeing that they are only playing with 3 International players while the other teams are playing with 4.
However, what is Navin Stewart doing on the team ? the Tridents have better batsmen in Kyle Corbin and Hope .,and better bowlers in Smith,Munererra and Carter( who are already on the team),and Hosein.
Nurse who normally picks up his wickets towards the ending of the innings continues to be handle badly by Pollard again this year.
