Tridents go down to Zouks

Andre Fletcher blasted the Tridents’ bowling all over the ground during his knock of 77

Led by two half-centuries from opener Andre Fletcher and Kevin Pietersen, the St Lucia Zouks trounced the Barbados Tridents by 30 runs in their Hero Caribbean Premier League encounter last night in St Kitts.

Man-of-the-match Fletcher blasted 77 runs from 50 balls, while Pietersen bludgeoned 73 from just 39 balls, to propel the Zouks to the competition’s highest total of 202 for five in their 20 overs.

The Tridents were never really in the chase, despite racking up 172 for seven in their 20 overs. The defending champions never got up to the challenging run rate of over 10 runs an over, while regularly losing wickets.

It was the second defeat of the competition for the Tridents.

Darren Sammy was the pick of the Zouks bowlers, finishing with three for 35 from his four overs.
