Man charged following St Joseph drug seizure

Police have arrested and formally charged a 37-year-old man in connection with this week’s drug seizure in St Joseph.

He is Wade Cortez Hope of Lodge Terrace, St Michael, who now faces charges of possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of cannabis.

Lawmen say they intercepted the gold Vitara jeep he was driving at St Bernard’s Village around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

While attempting to escape,  Hope’s vehicle reportedly overturned.  


Lawmen also say they found six polythene bags and a taped package of drugs with a total weight of 81 kilos.

    If the authorities do not get on top of this drugs and guns issue, Barbados as a tourist destination will suffer significantly.
