St Lucy man found guilty of indecent assault

COURT TODAY BLOCKA St Lucy man, found guilty of indecently assaulting a teenaged girl, has been remanded to custody.

Justice Margaret Reifer issued the order after the jury returned the verdict against Richard Taitt of Hope Road.

The court heard that on November 2, 2005, Taitt was at the house where the girl (then 15) resided.

As she came from the bathroom and was making her way to the bedroom with a towel around her, she felt someone push her from behind. She landed on the bed and Taitt then began fondling one breast and sucking the other.

The girl’s brother, who said he was at home at the time, also testified. He recalled peeping over into his sister’s bedroom and seeing Taitt committing the act. He said he shouted at Taitt.

However, when Taitt addressed the No. 2 Supreme Court, he insisted that he never did the deed and it was all a conspiracy on the part of the complainant’s family.

A pre-sentencing report was ordered on Taitt.
