Dowrich named in Test squad


Shane Dowrich has been named in a 14-man West Indies squad to face Australia on Wednesday.

Barbadian wicketkeeper/batsman, Shane Dowrich is set to make his Test debut after being named in a 14-man West Indies team to face Australia starting this Wednesday in Dominica.

Dowrich scored two half-centuries during a three-day warmup match which ended in a tame draw yesterday.

He has joined three other Barbadians in Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope and Kemar Roach, who all played in the recently concluded England series.

Full Squad: Denesh Ramdin (Captain), Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Kraigg Brathwaite , Darren Bravo, Rajindra Chandrika, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Veerasammy Permaul, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor.

    It’s very unlikely Dowrich will play. Already has a keeper who’s also the captain, but congrats on making the final eleven

    Congrats Shane,don’t think you will make your debut just yet as long as Ramdin is the keeper and skipper to boot.
    This is a reward for consistency throughout the season,but the time is not far away.
    I suspect Chandrika will open so as to allow Hope to bat at #6

    It has been long in coming for someone to really put some “fire” under RAMDIN heels . He is the worst wicket keeping batsman in international cricket. Dowrich will have to wait tho seeing that Ramdin is captain and the WICB/Selectors love him, but a “change” is gonna come . It will be “best for WI cricket .
