Two shot during Christ Church carnival

DSC_2525Two people were rushed to hospital following a shooting incident this afternoon, which marred today’s Christ Church carnival.

Lawmen are currently withholding the names of the victims. However, police spokesman, Acting Superintendent of Police David Welch, who spoke to Barbados TODAY at the scene, confirmed that two males – a 17-year-old and a 26-year-old – were taking part in the Carnival when they were shot.

The teenager received a bullet wound to the abdomen, while the other victim was shot in his right shinbone.

It was not immediately clear what triggered the shootings, which occurred just after 2PM at the corner of Durants and Lodge Road.

Investigations are continuing.

When approached, Member of parliament for Christ Church East, Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe refused to comment on the matter.

who take a gun to a festival? Things really change. Something will be done in Barbados about all this senseless shooting and killings when one of the high up, police Lieutenant or the prime minister family member gets shot or murdered.

And who you think is allowing these drugs to pass through customs? The high up. It’s sure not the ones selling it.

Barbados always suffer under the DLP but we still vote for Dem. Bajans need their heads examined. To think that certain Church Leaders asked their Prayer Warriors on election night to pray for the DLP to win.
The DLP is the worst Government in the history of this country—THE WORST !!!!

    • Greg May 26, 2015 at 2:45 pm

Dave, I’m not so sure you are right, the DLP party usually takes over the government after the BLP has broken down the country, they have the hard task of rebuilding the country only for it to be given back to the BLP to break down again. Fact not fiction.

Greg, where you living and where you got YOUR facts from ?? man you got to be hand standing for EVERY BODY knows what happen from the ESAF times until Bajans were told that they needed a change…until now’

You need to get up off your hands and stand on your feet, and you will see the TRUE picture mate. You must stop telling yourself those things ,patting yourself on your back and giving yourself high fives.

The goods that OSM and the Bees left behind is whats’ keeping Bdos afloat right now FYI,but it is being eaten away slowly

We’re don’t want nothing to do with God anymore. It’s either he’s old fashioned and not with the times or he’s the God the slave masters gave to us or he doesn’t exist. Alot of nonsense. We’re cultivating the morals and ways of those Godless outside counties. We are preferring evil over good. So unless we return God, things are going to get worse. Whether or not you believe in God, doesn’t change the fact that there is one.

You Sharon is a ungodly person, so you don’t know the power of God. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Your statement is really pitiful and laughable.

Thomas you are the pitiful one, live in the dark ages, no one can move on like that. As I said try preaching facing a gun and see how far it gets you. Trust me I am sad that a beautiful island is falling apart, but going to church wont stop crime or your so called morals – you only have to look at today’s pictures from yesterdays carnival and yes there was shooting too

The proliferation of illegal guns in this country seems to have gone unchecked . One of these days, these same guns will be pointing in a different direction.

    Denisha, Stop feeding the troll.
If an employee of the JTB exhibits such poor grammar and disrespect, it just reflects on the quality of personnel in that organization.
I doubt very much the troll even has a UWI degree.
    Stop feeding the troll!

That’s why we would never be united, simple things trigger black people minds, as for the god bits , where was god and Jesus during the centuries of slavery, the only help was the slaves them selves.
Since the history of slavery, we have the bible ,printed by the generation of the original slave master, so we are still enslaved.
We talk about Christianity faith, love , but we have lost our culture and that Christian thing, but we are very, very religious.
we are so religious we cant even manage our homes and families .
Stop the stupid ness, you all think , Jamaicans , bajans we are all red blooded , lots of us are friends and families.
