Bus conductor loses his surety

COURT TODAY BLOCKDorian DaCosta Renee Harewood entered the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court with a surety, but after she addressed the court he no longer had one.

Harewood, 26, a resident of Crawford Road, Ellerton, St George, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Shane Foster.

When asked her reason for doing so by Magistrate Douglas Frederick, the woman responded by saying that even though she is related to the accused, “he don’t speak to me. He does curse me. I don’t have a number to get hold of he, and I don’t feel if he cursing me, I should stand surety for he.”

Permission was granted for her withdrawal and another person replaced her as surety later in the day.

The conductor’s case was adjourned until June 24.
