Man pleads guilty to assault
Andre Jamal Williams pleaded guilty yesterday to unlawfully assaulting Iana Bobb on April 11 this year.
However, he denied assaulting or using threatening words toward Jamila Blackman on that same date; those words being, “You could call as many police as you like. I gine kill you and go jail and sit down for something.”
Station Sergeant Keith Belle outlined to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court that Bobb is Blackman’s niece. Evidence presented by the prosecution revealed there was a confrontation between Williams and another person. Bobb intervened and the accused pushed her on to a refrigerator and hit her.
However, in Williams’ version of events, he was in a bedroom quarrelling with another person when Bobb intervened and grabbed him by his locks. He pushed her off him and she ended up slamming into the refrigerator.
The first-time offender was granted $3 000 bail and returns to court on August 12.
