Police Public Relations Officer David Welch.

Lawmen have denied reports that robbers have been using a vehicle with siren to carry out their crimes.

In a statement this morning, the Force’s public relations officer, acting Assistant Superintendent of Police David Welch, expressed concern over the reports, which were said to be circulating on social media.

He called on the alleged perpetrators to desist from causing undue distress and alarm to the public.

Following is the full text of his statement:

“It has come to the attention of the Force that information is being circulated on social media sites stating that persons are using a vehicle with siren to rob people.

The Police Force does not have any reports or information that this has occurred. There are no such matters reported or information suggesting that any such incident occurred.

The public can be assured that we will continue to inform the public about crimes of concern and occurrences.

We are asking persons to desist from causing undue distress and alarm to the public.” (Ends)
