Sentencing next month for 64-year-old

COURT TODAY BLOCKA 64-year-old man who pleaded guilty to four drug charges on Monday, will return to the District ‘B’ Magistrates Court on May 26 for sentencing.

Philip Peter Joseph Decle, of Apartment #1 Strandel, Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church had, trafficked, imported and intended to supply .8 kilograms of cocaine.

The self-employed man appeared before Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell.

According to Sergeant Wendell Greenidge, Decle came into Barbados on Sunday on a flight from Trinidad.

After police interviewed him and conducted a search, two taped packages of cocaine were found hidden in a pair of black tights which he wore under his jeans.

He was taken to the Oistins Police Station where he admitted knowledge of the drugs.

Decle said he lost his business in 2007 and owed rent so after being spoken to by the landlord, he “took the risk” to bring the drugs.
