Brittons Hill, BDF advance

The Barbados Defence Force booked their place into the Banks Beer Football Cup quarterfinals by winning a penalty shoot-out against Premier League side Silver Sands by a 3-1 margin at the Wildey, St Michael Astro Turf last night.

Also at the same venue Mackeson Brittons Hill defeated Tudor Bridge 5-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. They owed their victory to a hat-trick from striker Dwayne Stanford who netted in the 67th, 86th and 90+2nd minutes. There were also goals from Walton Burrowes and Curtis Odle in the 16th and 81st minutes respectively.

In the penalty shoot-out Akeene Browne, Nicholas Best and Dario Burnham scored for the BDF while for Silver Sands Rico Forde was the lone goal-scorer.

The round of 16 was scheduled to continue this evening with Premier League teams Klaytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame and Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme tackling each other. Rendezvous were also down to battle against Parish Land at the Wildey Astro Turf.
