Crowd gathered at Bridgetown court to see police officer

UPDATE: A large crowd is gathered at the District “A” Magistrates’ Court in anticipation of the arrival of a police officer charged in connection with the shooting death of 57-year-old Selwyn Knight and the wounding of his 27-year-old son Junior.

Constable Everton Gittens (centre).

Constable Everton Gittens, a member of the Drug Squad was questioned at the Black Rock police station yesterday.

Gittens had shot the two men in Dash Road, Bank Hall, St Michael, on March 15, as they tried to recover items from Jamal Skeete who had broken into their home on Queen Mary Road.

This morning, our news team saw Gittens leaving the station in the company of several personnel including investigator, Inspector Carolyn Blackman.

Knight’s family members are among those gathered at the Bridgetown court.

I don’t think any of us plan on shooting an innocent man in his back and through his heart for no apparent reason, so no, can’t put myself in his shoes…. NO BAIL.

The arrest and subsequent charge of murder is long over due.
However, I do hope that justice will be done, and P.C Gittens would pay for the evil deed of taking an innocent man life,
and the wounding of his son.

A lot more want bringing befor the Court . Some of them are obsess with the belief they can do anything cause the law give them that right. In this Country, we adhere to the rule of law, hence, the police has to respect and operate inside of the law.

    May justice prevail .
    Is he in hand-cuffs ?
It is sad when an officer of the law is standing in (any)court charged .
The RBPF is here to “serve and protect” .

Lets be honest and realistic if this cop was on duty when he shot and kill one and injured another he would never have been even charge but he was off duty so they could do nothing to save his skin,im hoping real justice is serve because being charge means nothing only conviction.

Not condoning the actions of the officer but it seems to me that some of these bloggers believed he had something personal against Mr knight ….he made a bad decision when he went outside and saw whatever he saw ….suppose he had shot and killed the thief only…. he would still be charged and would it still be justice served then
