Plans for Barbados to become training hub for fire officers

Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite

Once the expansion at the Arch Hall Fire station is completed, it is hoped that Barbados will become leaders in training fire officers across the region.

That is according to Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite, as he spoke earlier today during the Barbados Fire Service’s (BFS) Diamond Anniversary thanksgiving service at New Dimension Ministries, the Transformation Centre, Barbarees Hill, St Michael.

“We spend a lot of time training our own fire officers and it is our vision that we will not only be a training centre for Barbados, but a training centre for the Caribbean.

“As we expand Arch Hall, it is our intention to ensure that we are the leading providers of training in this region and in that regard the BFS should be commended,” Brathwaite revealed.

He revealed they had also initiated a programme with the Barbados Community College, which would help in the training of a cadre of auxiliary fire officers.
