Woman fined for assaulting police
Her grandfather called the police yesterday after she was misbehaving at his residence.
But even when they arrived, Kimiko Rashika Callender-Proverbs’ behaviour did not improve. In fact, she began cursing them.
When Constable Lisa Kirton tried to arrest the woman, she shoved her and Callender-Proverbs ended up being charged with assaulting, resisting and obstructing the police woman in the execution of her duties.
The Valley Land, St George woman apologized to the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court today, explaining that her “head was hot” at the time.
She was fined by Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell.
For assaulting Kirton, she must pay $500 by May 28, with an alternative of three months in jail; an additional $250 for resisting arrest is payable by May 7 with a similar alternative.
Callender-Proverbs was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the count of obstruction.
