Special constable charged

COURT TODAY BLOCKA second special constable has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Dave Mervin Williams, 38, of Lot 178B Ealing Park, Christ Church, was not required to plead to the indictable offence when he went before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today.

Williams is accused of intentionally perverting the course of justice by accepting $30 from Vere Stephens on March 27 this year, to get a police certificate of character for him before the due date of April 10.

The certificate was delivered to Stephens on the same date.

Sergeant Robert Jones did not object to bail for Williams but asked the court to order that his travel documents be surrendered. That was done.

The accused, who is being represented by attorney-at-law Lesley Cargill, was granted $5,000 bail.

The case was adjourned until July 2.
