I’m back!

Just as he promised, corn vendor Ian Webster was back on “his spot” on the ABC Highway today, 24 hours after an accident involving an elderly driver who stopped to make a purchase from him.

In fact, he was using the same can and coal pot that were sent scattering when a truck hit 73-year-old Estrum Maynard’s car yesterday afternoon.

“Everything is the same. The only thing I couldn’t find was the thing I was holding the corn with . . . I ain’t moving from here. In life you get the unexpected and you move on,” Webster insisted as he sat in his Suzuki van which also slightly damaged in the crash.

The authorities will have to determine the risk factors here. The next time it may be the life of someone or a number of persons. Everyone may not use the right judgment and even this seller’s life may be at stake.

In all of this , I am really glad no deaths occurred. Howevr, I do hope and pray nothing like this happens again. I surely would not have gone back on that same spot selling again, but all of us are not the same.
