Swedish visitor dies off Browne’s Beach

An elderly cruise visitor died this afternoon while snorkelling off Browne’s Beach.

The Swedish man, whose name had not been released up to tonight, arrived in Barbados on the Costa Magica which was berthed at the Bridgetown Port.

The tourist, said to be in his 70s, went on a catamaran cruise that stopped on the Bay Street, St Michael beach. While there, he went snorkeling and got into difficulties around 1:35 p.m.

He was pulled onto the catamaran by crew and passengers and a doctor on board administered CPR but the man was unresponsive.

By the time the vessel reached the shore, the Swede had died.
