Psychiatric evaluation ordered for arson accused
The man accused of intentionally burning three buildings and two cars belonging to his uncles, was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital today for assessment and evaluation.
When Ryan Clairmonte Benn returns before Magistrate Douglas Frederick on June 26, an accompanying report should state whether he is fit to plead.
Today, the accused – who is said to have a mental history – went before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court who adjourned and transferred the matter to Frederick’s court.
Benn, a fruit vendor who resides at Brandons Gap, Deacons Road, St Michael, allegedly set fire to the buildings in his neighbourhood on Sunday.
