UWI conquer Mavericks 3-0

The UWI Blackbirds started the Barbados Football Association’s Women’s League season on the right note on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Mavericks at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Colleen Johnson got on the scoresheet early in the game when she netted in the 12th minute. The score would remain 1-0 going into the break with the home side controlling most of the possession.

In the second-half talented Soraya Toppin-Herbert tormented Mavericks’ defence and was rewarded for her attacking instincts with a brace in the 48th and 54th minute respectively.
