Antigua – $930,000 ganja bust

ST JOHN’S –– A police officer is among five people in the custody of the Office Of National Drug And Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP), following a near $1 million drug bust in the Cedar Grove area late Tuesday.

The officer, a Dominican-born corporal who is attached to the Bolans Police Station, and the other four suspects had not been charged up to late last night.

The other people in custody are two Antiguan women, an Antiguan man and a female American citizen.

They are being questioned about the seizure of over 230 pounds of cannabis found packed in six crocus bags and also compressed and stored in several vacuum bags.

The ONDCP said the estimated value of the confiscated contraband is about $930,000.

No further information about the investigation has been released, and there’s no indication whether all five suspects will be charged.
