Constable accused of assaulting woman and fellow officer
A police constable appeared in a Bridgetown court today on three charges, including one for assaulting a superior.
Andrew Jonathan Maynard, 28, of Lynches Tenantry, St Philip, pleaded not guilty to all three charges when he went before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court.
He is charged with the April 5 offences of using the threatening words “I going kill you tonight” to Shevron John, which caused her to believe violence would be used against her, assaulting her, and also assaulting Sergeant Ryan Brathwaite in the execution of his duties.
Acting Station Sergeant Peter Barrow did not object to bail but he asked that certain conditions be attached.
As a result, Maynard had to surrender his passport and was ordered not to interfere with the complainant.
The cop, who was released on $2,500 bail, is being represented by attorney-at-law Angella Mitchell-Gittens.
