Clarke, Eastmond win at cycling meet

Barbados’ and Heatwave’s Phillip Clarke led a Bajan one-two in the Easter weekend’s Diego Martin to Debe International Road Race in Trinidad and Tobago.

Clarke won from countryman Darren Matthews, wearing the Slipstream colours while Jamaica’s Marloe Rodman of PSL rounded out the top three.

Barbados’ Jamol Eastmond also impressed over the weekend in the Trinidad Easter Grand Prix. He finished third in the 33-lap scratch race behind hometown winner Varun Maharajh and second placed Stevan Cuesta of Colombia. Eastmond also emerged the winner of the seven-lap race at the Arima Velodrome.
