Community tennis a success
Community spirit came alive last Saturday when the young and not so young of the close knit Edey’s Village, Christ Church came out in their numbers to see their own showcase their road tennis skills in the Edey’s Village Community Road Tennis Tournament.
The tournament which was an all-day event was hosted by Barbados Labour Party’s candidate in the Christ Church East Central constituency in the 2013 general election and currently, constituency caretaker, Desmond Sands.
In an interview with a team from Barbados TODAY at the conclusion of the tournament, Sands said he had plans to extend the competition to other communities in the constituency.
The community based tournament was organised in two categories: seniors and the juniors.
In the senior category Corey Brewster copped the first prize, while Kamar Small was the runner up.
Meanwhile, in the junior category, Shaquille Walcott out-performed Kevere Clarke to win the top honours.
The tournament was ably organised by the community spirited, Gregory Small, who also filled in as master of ceremony at the presentation of awards ceremony.
