Deacons Primary and Cuthbert Moore Primary today became the first two schools to have their inter-house sports at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
At the end of the day it was Blue House at the two respective schools who were ahead in the points standings. For Deacons Primary Blue House led with 250 points, followed by Yellow House on 166, Red 134 and last year’s winners, Green House in fourth on 124.
For Cuthbert Moore Blue House were in the lead on 419 points. Second were Red House on 361 points, followed by Yellow House on 359 points and Green House on 352 points. The overall champions at the two respective schools will be decided when both schools have their respective infants’ sports day next week.
Former world champion in the 110m hurdles Ryan Brathwaite was in attendance for the opening ceremony. The athletics track at the Usain Bolt Complex is named after Brathwaite.
Meanwhile at the National Stadium St Mathews Primary and St Giles Primary jointly held their inter-house sports day. For St Giles Primary Brewster “Yellow” House tallied 441 points to emerge as champions.
They were closely trailed by Adams “Blue” House in second place with 409 points. Cumberbatch “Green” House came third with 321 points and Parris “Red” House had to settle for fourth spot on 300 points. Victrix ludorum honors went to Ianna Ellis of Yellow House while Shawn Jack of Blue House captured the victor ludorum title.
For St Matthews Primary champions Green House scored 414 points, Orange House were second with 401 points and Purple House finished third with 339. Shamiah Boucher of Green House was named the victrix ludorum and the victor ludorum also came from Green House through Jamarco Gill.
