Barbados defeat the CCC

Barbados Captain Kevin Stoute top-scored with 75 and in-form batsman Shamarh Brooks made 56 to steer the Barbados team to a two-wicket victory over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in a 50-over practice match at the 3Ws Oval last night.

In what was a rain-interrupted day and night warm-up for the upcoming NAGICO Super50 Tournament scheduled for next week in Trinidad and Tobago, CCC won the toss and posted 177 for three in 43.5 overs when the rain came.  CCC did not resume their innings and Barbados were given a revised target of 214 from 43 overs which they knocked off in 42.2 overs for the loss of eight wickets.

Earlier when CCC batted they were put under pressure by Barbados’ bowling attack which was led by spinner Jomel Warrican who took one for 18 runs from his spell of ten overs. Also picking up a wicket was experienced fast bowler Tino Best with one for 39 from eight overs and Kenroy Williams who bowled seven overs for 33 with one scalp. Former West Indies fast bowler,

CCC’s Kavem Hodge ended on 43 not out and Kyle Hope scored 42. Batting at the top CCC opener Shacaya Thomas made 31.

Medium pacer Christopher Powell took three for 22 from eight overs in the Barbados innings while off-spinner Ryan Austin grabbed three for 35 from nine overs.
