Shooter remanded

A wanted man who turned himself in to police yesterday has been charged with shooting a man on Old Year’s Day.

Leon Garfield Lawrence, 25, of Block 10D Bonnetts Housing Area, St Michael was remanded to prison when he appeared in court today charged withcausing serious bodily harm to Marlon Brathwaite with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him.

He also faced a charge of illegal use of a firearm.Lawrence will reappear in court on February 3.

Brathwaite was shot several times about his body at approximately 11 am on December 31, 2014 at the junction of Brittons New Road and Bonnetts New Road, St Michael.

Police public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch told Barbados TODAY that Brathwaite was still warded at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in serious condition.
