Squash team returns from a successful tour

Barbados’ squash team ended the 2014 U.S. Junior Squash Open held at the Yale University squash complex in New Haven, Connecticut, with one of their best ever overall performances.

Following Meagan Best’s capture of the bronze medal in the Under-13 category, representative of finishing third out of 57 entrants, Khamal Cumberbatch won the Under-13 second Consolation Plate competition last night. It meant he had finished 17th out of 80 competitors in his age grouping.

Little Sumairaa Suleman also did quite well in her first outing at this level. Competing among the Under-11s, she finished 25th out of the 48 players in her age group.

Best along with her parents and another Barbadian competitor, Zachary Proverbs-Harris, returned home this afternoon and Cumberbatch along with his parents and brother, Rhett Cumberbatch, who is the national junior coach, arrived tonight.
