Police make drug seizures

A fishing vessel has been seized and two Barbadians questioned following yesterday’s discovery of 37.1 kilogrammes of cocaine, 46.4 pounds of cannabis and a 9 mm pistol.

The items were discovered hidden in a false compartment on board the vessel, which was intercepted at around about 4.45 p.m. off South Point, Christ Church.

The operation was conducted by members of the Drug Squad, who were assisted by the Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard.

Meantime, one man is assisting police with their investigations following the discovery of 24 pounds of cannabis at a Bridgetown import business.

Lawmen say the illegal drug was contained in a personal shipment of animal feed received from overseas.

The suspect was detained following investigations.
