Treating the kids
The sound of children’s laughter and shouts filled the air at Ilaro Court yesterday as more than 350 underprivileged children were treated for the Christmas Season.
The occasion was the second annual children’s Christmas party put on by the Lions Club.
“We had a jumping tent, face painting, photo shoots where the children got a picture to take home with them, we had Santa Claus arriving in a buggy and children were sitting in a circle awaiting his arrival and she he got there, he got in the middle of the circle and they went to greet him. They went into a tent and they lined up and got pictures with Santa,” said Maureen Graham, Region 3 Chairman for the Lion’s Club, who is responsible for Barbados, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.
The group also received assistance from Divi Southwinds, which provided food such as fish cakes and ham cutters.
“Last year we had maybe about 200 children. I would like to see the time we reach up to 1,000. Thanks to the Prime Minister for allowing us to use the lawn of the Ilaro Court. The National Cultural Foundatin also helped as well,” Graham added.
