Past and present Harrisonians to face off on bball court
Past and present national players will be among those in action when the Harrison College Clash Of The Decades Basketball Tournament bounces off on Saturday morning at the school’s Crumpton Street courts.
Organiser Shane Sandiford said four matches are scheduled for Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., and the opening game will bring together the oldest and youngest teams in the tournament. The opening match will feature a team led by attorney-at-law Andrew Pilgrim against the school’s current team, led by coach Dario McCollin.
Six teams, made of up mainly of former Harrisonians over the past three decades , are contesting the tournament which on Wednesday received an injection of sponsorship from Massy United Insurance.
Marketing Coordinator of Massy United Insurance Trudy Bellamy said the company was happy to support the Old Harrisonian Society, who are also seeking to raise funds to assist the institution.
“A major objective of the tournament is to recognise past players for their contribution and make current players aware of the traditions of excellence they are expected to uphold. We are also hoping that through the basketball competition we can raise funds to assist in upgrading sports facilities at the school,” she said.
