Schools road tennis clash

Hilda Skeene and George Lamming will clash in next week’s finals of the Berger Paints National School Awards Road Tennis Tournament.

The two schools booked their spots with emphatic 3-0 victories over Blackman and Gollop and Milton Lynch respectively yesterday.

For Hilda Skeene, Tyreque Nurse defeated Kemari Griffith 21-16, Ivory Steele edged Jadon Lucas 23-21, and Lajay Hurdle dismissed Jarad Brewster 21-17 to complete the whitewash.

Milton Lynch’s duo of Tre Byer and Tierry Toppin had to fight hard before they both won close 22-20 games over Zarico Ramsey and Shaquan Applewhite respectively.

Ajani Roach then made it a clean sweep for Milton Lynch when he brushed aside Shaquar Shepherd, 21-9.

Ironically, both Roach and Shepherd will meet again in the individual finals after they recorded contrasting victories.

Roach “sowed” Brewster 21-7 in their semifinal match, while Shepherd registered a hard-fought 21-19 win over Steele.
